The Bishop was "Met at the Gate"!
The photo above shows: Terry van der Aa, Eugene "Bishop" Tanniehill and Manny Mill.
On Tuesday, August 14th, 2007, Eugene "Bishop" Tanniehill was pardoned by the Governer of Louisiana, released from Angola Prison, and met at the gate by Terry van der Aa and Pastor Bert DeJong. After serving 47 years of a life sentence at the famous penitentiary, the Bishop is the latest to receive a warm welcome by "the Church outside the prison walls" through the Meet Me at the Gate® program.
Terry brought the Bishop to the Koinonia House® National Ministries office shortly thereafter and together they had what Manny Mill called "the biggest ALELUYA ever!"
Inside the prison, the Bishop had served as an inmate minister, acting as a pastor to his co-prisoners. Now that he is released, his immediate plans will find him at a church in Brooklyn, NY, ministering to at-risk youth.
We are pleased that "Bishop" Tanniehill has agreed to be a special guest at the Koinonia House® National Ministries annual banquet on October 25th, 2007 in Rosemont, IL. Click here to see video of him from the banquet.
